To create a film about pre-war Europe Wes Anderson was inspired by old movies and old photos
On the Russian screens “Hotel “Grand Budapest”: a film made by a Texas native Wes Anderson, about Europe, what we may never see. Before filming began, Anderson traveled extensively in the Old World, looking hotels the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, and old movies and old photos. By his own admission, the films of the 1930s, even more than old buildings, guided him in the creation of “Grand Budapest”.
The Eastern edge of Europe. The first world war was still very fresh in the memory, the Second is about to begin. The hotel “Grand Budapest”, though placed by the Director in a fictional country called ZUBROWKA, still bears traces of the Imperial grandeur that he had inherited from Austria-Hungary. Perhaps they would disappear much faster, not serve at the hotel in the chief of all the concierges middle-aged man, attractive appearance named Gustave H (Ralph Fiennes). Continue reading

There are about 60 thousand water sources, 1152 of them with temperatures over +30 °C. in Hungary is Europe’s only cave-Spa and bath ( Miskolctapolca ), as well as the most famous in Europe, lake Heviz natural volcanic origin with hot water treatment (+33 °C). And if Hungary is called bath Empire, its capital Budapest is considered as the capital of thermal baths. Here 130 springs with healing water, which produce more than 70 million liters of water a day with temperatures ranging from +24 to +78 °C.
Globally, Hungary occupies a leading position in balneotherapy. The country is among the five richest countries of thermal waters in the world. Emperors, kings, nobility, famous statesmen, guests and locals for centuries enjoyed bathing there and treatment. Continue reading
