To create a film about pre-war Europe Wes Anderson was inspired by old movies and old photos
On the Russian screens “Hotel “Grand Budapest”: a film made by a Texas native Wes Anderson, about Europe, what we may never see. Before filming began, Anderson traveled extensively in the Old World, looking hotels the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, and old movies and old photos. By his own admission, the films of the 1930s, even more than old buildings, guided him in the creation of “Grand Budapest”.
